Soundstreams is for the new generation of composers. We've been working alongside leading composers Kenneth Dempster and John Harris, helping young people to write their own music, and the results have been astonishing.
Every student who has taken part in the course has written their own piece for the players of the Scottish Flute Trio with guests Robert Irvine ('cello), Rhian Macleod and Amy Sherry (marimba). All of the music that the students have written has been performed in a public concert, and many of the pieces have been performed in the local Primary schools around the project centre. We've run complete courses in Madaras College in St Andrews, Eastwood High School in East Renfrewshire and Dunfermline High School in Fife. We're also run taster sessions in Ayrshire for students starting their Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher music courses.
There is a huge pool of creativity out there in Scotland's young people.
