East meets West at Stirling Tolbooth on 2 April as master percussionist and Shakuhatchi (bamboo flute) player, Joji Hirota, joins the acclaimed Scottish Flute Trio for a performance of The Waterfall of Time Suite, a piece he wrote specially for the Trio. A former musical director and percussionist for the celebrated Lindsay Kemp Dance Company, Hirota has worked with many groups including the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also toured the world both as a solo artist and with ensembles such as the Taiko Drummers with whom he opened the Live Earth concert on at Wembley stadium in 2007.
This concert is a preview of the group’s new recording of The Waterfall of Time which will be released by seven things label later in 2009.
